“Filippo, we’re leaving for Germany on Monday.”
“Perfect. What time?”
“Four o’clock.”
“Okay.”
It was four in the morning.
That’s how Filippo’s journey at Benincà began. Today, at 24, Filippo is part of the international sales team, working with customers and markets in Germany, Austria, German-speaking Switzerland, Central and Northern Europe, and parts of Central Asia.
A journey that began just over two years ago, when he started working alongside Roberto in the German markets and that, over time, has led him to take on new responsibilities and engage every day with different businesses, cultures and people.
Learning by doing
From his very first day, Filippo was put to the test.
Customers with decades of experience, in-depth technical knowledge and different expectations. At first, it wasn’t always easy. There were also times when he didn’t have an answer.
During one of his first experiences with a long-standing Benincà customer, highly knowledgeable from a technical perspective, he was faced with very specific questions about the components and dimensions of a motor.
His answer was simple and honest:
“I don’t know. I’ll find out and get back to you.”
Then came a phone call to a colleague, a search for the answer and a follow-up with the customer.
Because, as Filippo explains, in sales you don’t need to know everything. What matters is knowing how to find an answer.
People make the difference
There have been important people along his journey.
Roberto, who has worked alongside him since his very first day and whom Filippo considers one of the key figures in his growth. And Bruno, with whom he works every day and who, over the years, has given him advice, experience and support, especially from a sales perspective.
But there are also all the people he has met along the way: colleagues, customers and professionals with very different backgrounds and experiences.
For Filippo, personal relationships are a fundamental part of the job.
With some customers, in fact, the relationship goes beyond business: they talk about family, sports and everyday life.
“They have experiences that are very different from mine. That also helps me grow.”
That is also how a customer can become a point of reference and, in some cases, a friend.
Growing together with customers
One of the aspects Filippo appreciates most about his job is the opportunity to see a customer grow over time.
Not only supporting established businesses, but also accompanying smaller customers on their growth journey.
“I like seeing a small customer grow and become a big one together with you.”
Because behind every commercial result there are relationships, trust and a shared journey.
And perhaps this is one of the aspects that best reflects his own growth at Benincà.
The patience to build your own path
If there is one word Filippo associates with his growth, it is patience.
The patience to learn, to gradually build trust and to take on new responsibilities.
When he started, he mainly followed the German markets. Today, his work covers a much broader geographical area and new development opportunities.
A change that did not happen all at once, but step by step.
From Italy to Europe and beyond
Filippo’s work involves a lot of travel and the opportunity to engage with markets that are profoundly different from one another.
One of the countries that has impressed him most is Uzbekistan, and Tashkent in particular: a place he knew little about before visiting and that surprised him with its architecture, markets, mosaics and distinctive blue domes.
For Filippo, travelling is also part of the job: an opportunity to discover new countries, but above all new people and new ways of living and doing business.
Also outside the office
Sport has always been part of his life: from basketball, which he also played at a high level, to boxing and kickboxing, as well as working out at the gym. One of his passions is also sailing, an activity that is particularly important to him and allows him to spend his free time by the lake.
In summer, there is the lake. In winter, skiing with friends and family.
And then there is one small detail that never leaves him on his travels: his watch.
“I feel almost naked without it.”
A simple detail, but one that also says a lot about his character.
Benincà in one word: opportunity
When we ask him to define Benincà in a single word, his answer comes immediately: “Opportunity.”
To learn. To travel. To take on responsibility. To engage with the world.
And to discover, step by step, just how far you can go.
When we instead ask him what he would say to the Benincà family, his answer is: “Thank you very much.” Two simple words.
But they contain the journey he has made, the people he has met, the trust he has received and the awareness that, at 24, something important has only just begun.
A career built on people
A career is not made up only of numbers, markets and results. It is built on people who believe in you.
Someone who, one day, tells you “let’s go” and takes you along. Someone who teaches you a profession.
Colleagues who share their experience. Customers who become relationships. And a young man who, step by step, discovers just how far he can go.
This is Filippo’s story. A story of growth, people and opportunities. A story we are proud to tell.
